Are you having trouble deciding on the mounting height for the wall lights on your staircase steps? This guide will take you through the various parameters that are critical in determining the mounting height.
Light Distribution
This parameter also refers to the photometry of the light fitting. There are two types for staircase step lighting:
- Deep
- Wide
Light Coverage
Mounting height affects the coverage of light. Depending on your design intend, mounting at a higher level will give you more coverage, vice versa. As a rule-of-thumb based on a single light source, for every step to be illuminated add the mounting height by its own riser height.
Examples
For example, if your intention is to illuminate two steps, the mounting height will be 2 x riser (which is approximately 350mm)
